The US military’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401) has selected AeroVironment Inc’s (AV) Titan MS (multi-sensor) system for a USD 80.5 million contract award in support of Domestic Shield.
The award is being executed against a USD 500 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) sole-source contract in support of JIATF-401 that was recently announced.
Domestic Shield is the US defence department’s initiative to strengthen C-UAS protection for defence critical infrastructure and other high-priority homeland defence. The task force leads the programme and works with the military services and interagency partners to validate requirements, align resources and accelerate the delivery of layered C-UAS capabilities.
Under this purchase order, AV will deliver Titan systems for the US Air Force’s layered air defence capabilities against small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) threats. This award follows a previous JIATF-401 purchase of a Titan C-UAS system.
The AI-powered Titan MS has been designed to detect, identify, track, defeat and report on uncrewed system threats. It fuses AI and machine learning algorithms from sensors to counter both RF-controlled and autonomous drone threats. Titan products are currently integrated in multiple US military and government programmes.
