Sphere Drones receives BVLOS area approval for test and demonstration site

Sphere Drones has been granted a Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) Area Approval for its site near Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.

This is the company’s first BVLOS Area Approval, and allows it to conduct operations across the BVLOS area without the need for spotters or trained observers on-site. In addition to operational benefits, the BVLOS approval will help Sphere Drones develop and deploy its HubX mobile drone platform for extended durations. This includes comprehensive testing and establishing a permanent demonstration site.

The current BVLOS approval does not extend to Remote Operations Centre (ROC) BVLOS operations. However, the Sphere Drones team are currently working towards incorporating a ROC into their BVLOS operations by the end of 2024.
