Poland records 13% increase in UAV operations in 2023, double the number of VFR flights

The Polish air navigation services agency PANSA has published summaries of the number of UAV operations for 2023. It was a difficult year, but despite this, there were 668,786 drone operations (up to 25kg), which is more than twice as many as the number of VFR operations handled by Flight Information Service, which was 275,000 in the same period.

PANSA recorded an increase in the number of flights compared to 2022, amounting to 12.7%. In relation to 2021, the number of applications increased by 24%, which gives approximately 12% annual increase in the number of operations. Together with the Polish Civil Aviation Authority, PANSA is looking to ensure UAV flights operate in accordance with national rules.
