Hamburg U-space sandbox installs key infrastructure to support operational demonstrations

Germany’s Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) partnership Droniq reports installation of four Droniq sector antennas on part of the Heinrich Herz Tower, which belongs to DFMG Deutsche Funkturm in Hamburg. The aim is to demonstrate U-space to regularly control drone traffic under the leadership of Droniq (a joint enterprise between Deutsche Telekom and DFS) and Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS). The project is due to last several months.

The project to implement an operational drone environment is funded by Germany’s Bundesministerium fur Verkeher unde digital Infrastrucktur (BMVI) and is supported by several project partners including: Hamburg Port Authority, Hamburg Ministry of Economics and Innovation, Hamburg Aviation and UDVeo.
