GOF2.0 research team to share project outcomes with flight demonstrations 14 October 2022

The SESAR GOF 2.0 Integrated Urban Airspace very-large demonstration research project will present the findings and results of the Urban Air Mobility use case demonstrations that were carried out during 2021 and 2022 in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Poland, and Sweden at Poland’s Aeroclub Poznański on 14 October 2022.

Consortium members will share the lessons learned from project trials on the safe, secure, and sustainable integration of unmanned aerial vehicles into urban airspace.

Unmanned and human-carrying air taxi operations are taking the steps from restricted, local flights to fly beyond visual line of sight to meet the future mobility needs and fight the climate change by substantially reducing carbon emissions from commercial, industrial, and urban transportation. For Urban Air Mobility to become a sustainable transportation system it must be integrated with other transportation infrastructure, such as airports, harbours, train/bus terminals, as well as logistics centres. The ability of drone logistics and air-taxis to form a seamless transportation chain in and out of airports without affecting other commercial air traffic is therefore of utmost importance.

The event provides an opportunity to experience first-hand how the European SESAR Wave 2 project GOF 2.0 enables and tests the operational validity of serving unmanned aerial systems and manned operations safely, securely, and sustainably in a unified, dense urban airspace using existing air traffic management and U-space services and systems.
