NASA-FAA UTM team publishes ‘conflict management model’ to support UTM use cases.

The NASA-Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) research transition team that addresses key areas within the US Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) research programme has added its findings relating to UAS Traffic Management Conflict Management Model to the UTM website. The document is anchored in the FAA UTM ConOps use case and the ICAO conflict mitigation approach.

The Sense and Avoid Subgroup explored operator solutions to ensure that unmanned aircraft do not collide with other aircraft and analysed, in conjunction with the Communication and Navigation Subgroup, the effectiveness of operational coordination through sharing of intent information in combination and in contrast to active avoidance.
