The Romanian Gendarmerie has awarded a contract to Neramo Distribution for counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS). The Gendarmerie is responsible for high-risk law enforcement, crowd control during major public gatherings and anti-terrorist interventions alongside the civilian Romanian Police.
The devices will be used to detect, intercept and capture UAS in support of the Ministry of the Interior’s mission to protect public spaces and critical infrastructure.
Romania issued a public alert on July 24 after the military neutralised a drone in national airspace. The country has been dealing with an increase in unauthorised drone incidents in recent months and Romanian defence forces have placed several orders for C-UAS equipment to counter the threat. Romania’s defence ministry is also part of the US defence department’s C-UAS marketplace.
