Defence tech startup Askari Defense has raised a USD 9M seed round led by Builders VC to accelerate the company’s work building hand-launched, autonomous interceptors.
Askari describes its solution as a “lightweight, kinetic, fire-and-forget capability that can be deployed against hostile drones without waiting on a vehicle, a fixed site or a perfect RF environment”.
The company has already secured contracts and delivered systems to government customers.
In addition to to Builders VC, funding participants included Sovereign’s Capital, Swell VC, Rule 1 Ventures, WaterStone Impact Fund, and a syndicate of defence leaders including Gabe Dominocielo, Dan Magy, Naweed Tahmas and James Kubik.
The announcement follows an earlier seeding round of USD 1.7M, which included support from Knoll Ventures, Brickyard, Blackwing, Georgia Tech Foundation, Inc., Garrett Langley, Overline, and Teamworthy Ventures.
