US lidar company AEye and Swedish defence technology company Swiftstrike AI are to collaborate on integrating AEye’s STRATOS lidar sensor into Swiftstrike’s counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) platforms.
The companies said the integration will use STRATOS as a long-range detection layer alongside Swiftstrike’s multi-sensor C-UAS platform and autonomy software, with the aim of improving detection and classification of smaller aerial targets.
STRATOS is designed to detect objects at ranges of up to 1.5km, according to AEye. Additionally, the sensor provides three-dimensional information on an object’s distance, height and speed and does not depend on detecting a drone’s radio signal.
Swiftstrike develops portable, modular C-UAS and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems using multiple sensors and kinetic effectors. The company said integrating STRATOS will extend the range at which its systems can detect and classify small aerial targets.
The collaboration is focused on development and integration, with the companies not announcing a production contract or specific customer for the combined system.
