Australian space infrastructure company Skykraft has appointed Rob Weaver as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 10 September 2026.
Skykraft is a space-based air traffic management services company. Its space- enabled surveillance system captures Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) and Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) signals from satellites, validates these positions and relays the data to air navigation service providers (ANSPs.) it also relays VHF voice communications between an aircraft and an ANSP through satellites – to provide VHF voice communications globally, even in remote and oceanic regions – and VHF data between an aircraft to the ground, via satellites. Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract (ADS-C).
Weaver brings experience in air traffic management, aviation safety and emerging aerospace technologies. He previously served as executive general manager at Airservices Australia before moving into senior business development and industry leadership roles at EmbraerX and Eve Air Mobility.
Weaver replaces Michael Frater, who served as Skykraft’s CEO during a period of development for the company’s space and communications technology. Skykraft’s board thanked Frater for his contribution and said he had overseen several milestones in the development of its technology and space capabilities.
Skykraft said a global recruitment process for a permanent CEO will begin in the coming months. The company is developing a space-based VHF communications, surveillance and air traffic management network.
