The SESAR SAFIR-Med large demonstration research project reports a successful drone flight in the Belgian city of Antwerp on 2 June, when a medical package was delivered within the urban environment. The event brought together representatives from the European medical, drone and aviation industries with political decision-makers. Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo was also a guest and visited various project stands. SAFIR-Med partners say the the event demonstrates that the introduction of unmanned aviation will take time, but is inevitable given the exceptional economic, environmental and social benefits.
