On September 29, Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority, announced the launch of the “Strategic Programme for Advanced Air Mobility Demonstrations and Live Trials”.
“All local and international companies and organisations are invited to participate in the National Regulatory Sandbox to test and evaluate future aviation technologies and solutions for logistics support and urban, agricultural and healthcare services within a safe and controlled environment,” said a government tender website.
“As part of Oman Vision 2040, the Sultanate of Oman is accelerating innovation, economic diversification, and the adoption of advanced technologies to build a sustainable and globally competitive economy. In support of these national ambitions, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), is developing the National Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Strategy.
“As a key milestone of this strategy, MTCIT and the CAA are launching the Strategic Demonstrator Program, inviting organizations to participate in a national regulatory sandbox designed to validate innovative AAM technologies, operational concepts, and future aviation services in a safe and controlled environment.
The Ministry is seeking proposals across a wide range of AAM applications, including: “delivery box”, “ vision-box”, “health box”, “security box”, “agri-box” and “taxi-box”.
Target groups comprises operators, manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions and consortia and the deadline for expressions of interest is 25 October 2026. Field demonstrations and the live trials week is scheduled for 6–10 December 2026, with the main event on 8-9 December 2026.
The Expression of Interest is open to Omani and international operators, manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions, and industry partners developing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions. Participants will have the opportunity to deploy and test their own aircraft, drones, systems, sensors, payloads, and supporting technologies within Oman’s National AAM Sandbox, in collaboration with MTCIT and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
