The US National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen information sharing and collaboration on counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) efforts.
Under the agreement, NNSA and its national laboratories will share data generated through C-UAS test events with JIATF-401, while the task force will provide operational insights, field assessments and internal test data from its C-UAS activities.
The organisations said the arrangement is intended to reduce duplicative testing, improve understanding of evolving drone threats and accelerate the evaluation and deployment of C-UAS capabilities to protect NNSA laboratories, plants and sites.
JIATF-401 coordinates C-UAS activities across the US Department of War and with interagency partners, with responsibilities including accelerating C-UAS development and fielding and improving information and data sharing.
The MOU also supports JIATF-401’s efforts to standardise C-UAS testing and evaluation. In March, the task force announced Standard Guidelines for Test and Evaluation of C-UAS Technologies, establishing common data requirements for counter-small UAS evaluations.
NNSA said the new agreement builds on existing cooperation between the organisations and will create a broader body of shared C-UAS test and operational information across federal agencies.
