The Northern Plains UAS Test Site (NPUASTS) and its partners hosted a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations demonstration day on 16 September.
Among other demonstrations, aviation leaders and officials from across the United States were able to see the Vantis UAS system at Gorman Field during the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) Annual Convention.
Participating organisations included NPUASTS and its Vantis system, CVS Health, SkyfireAI, Kelly Hills Unmanned and Thales.
The demonstration flights highlighted two emerging applications for BVLOS operations: the use of drones to support the delivery of critical medical supplies and autonomous aircraft in agricultural operations. Together, they illustrated how uncrewed technology, communications infrastructure and industry partnerships can work together to move advanced drone operations toward practical, scalable use.
Trevor Woods, NPUASTS Executive Director, said the demonstration gave state officials an opportunity to see what BVLOS operations could look like for their states and communities.
