European Maritime Safety Agency requires BRLOS SATCOM link for surveillance UAS

The European Maritime Safety Agency via the European Union’s Tenders Electronic Daily service (http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:141505-2018:TEXT:EN:HTML&src=0) The objective of this call for tender is to contract SATCOM capacity-provision and capacity-management services to support the Agency’s remotely piloted aircraft system system (RPAS) beyond radio line of sight (BRLOS) operations and satellite internet services to connect the Local Ground Control Station (LGCS) with the Central Ground Control Station (CGCS) and/or the RPAS-DC. The value of the contract is greater than EUR 3.38 million.

The contract is divided into three lots:

  • Lot 1 is intended to provide SATCOM capacity for BRLOS communications with a minimum data rate of 2 Mbps for the return link.
  • Lot 2 is intended to provide SATCOM capacity for BRLOS communications with a minimum data rate of 5 Mbps for the return link.
  • Lot 3 is intended to provide internet via satellite to connect the LGCS with the CGCS and/or the RPAS-DC.
