SESAR’s SAFIR-Med research prepares for second very large demonstration event in Antwerp on 2nd June

The SAFIR-Med SESAR research project is planning a its second large demonstration event in a complex airspace, on the 2nd of June. Against Antwerp’s backdrop – one of the world’s major seaports – SAFIR-Med’s partners will bring together the industry sectors and policy makers in a medical aviation conference to share their experiences and present a compact version of unmanned aviation status and opportunities, within a single afternoon.

A strong EU level delegation from EC DG Move, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and Eurocontrol, as well as leaders Air Traffic Control, Civil Aviation and healthcare will join the event.

This event aims to showcase the various medical use cases being developed within the SAFIR-MED project, including transport of human tissue, biological lab samples, medicine, AED (defibrillator) and patients, all taking place above densely populated areas. All attendants and the people of Antwerp will witness advanced flights demonstration over the city. At the same time the conference talking place in the the Antwerp Port House is oriented to policy makers and industry executives and aims to present a compact version of unmanned aviation status and opportunities, within a single afternoon.
