SARA accuses Zipline of DAA patent infringement – Zipline to “vigorously defend itself”

According to a press release issued by law firm Maynard Cooper & Gale (Maynard), Scientific Applications & Research Associates (SARA), Inc. has filed a complaint against Zipline International, Inc. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California for patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and unfair competition.

The complaint centres on the alleged use of SARA’s proprietary acoustic “detect and avoid” (DAA) technology by Zipline.

Zipline refutes the charge. “Our revolutionary detection and avoidance system uses proprietary technology that Zipline independently developed, specifically for our aircraft(s) (sic). This lawsuit entirely lacks merit and we will vigorously defend ourselves,” said a Zipline spokesperson.
