Iris Automation joins OneSky Future of Flight programme to support BVLOS flight

OneSky had announce that Iris Automation has signed on to be a member of the OneSky Future of Flight programme. Iris Automation is a safety avionics technology company pioneering on- and off-board perception systems designed to enable customers to build scalable operations for crewed and uncrewed aircraft. Iris works closely with civil aviation authorities globally as they implement regulatory frameworks ensuring beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight is conducted safely.

The OneSky Future of Flight programme aims to help ecosystem partners like Iris Automation navigate the challenges of integrating their technology with air traffic management solutions. OneSky will work with Iris Automation to integrate data from Iris’ Casia G systems into the OneSky Uncrewed Traffic Management (UTM) environment. The integrated technology aims to empower users with best-of-breed data and analytics to enhance flight safety.

Chris Kucera, Co-Founder of OneSky and Head of Partnerships, said, “The Casia G system provides a novel approach to clearing the airspace for drone flights and with benefits over other RF-only systems. This relationship allows us to provide situational awareness to Casia G users and also fuse non-cooperative surveillance with UTM tracks in our portal for additional safety to support BVLOS flights.”

“Extending the ecosystem for overall aviation safety is critical. With new solutions now available such as Casia we can add to existing systems to provide a level of detection and safety mitigation not seen before,” said Jason Hardy-Smith, VP of Production, Iris Automation.
