EU’s High Risk Security Network protects Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix from drones

From 26 to 28 April, the High Risk Security Network (HRSN) provided counter drone services to the 2024 Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix that was held in Jerez de La Frontera. HRSN worked with the Intervention Unit of the Portuguese Guarda Nacional Republicana and the Rapid Action Group (GAR) of the Spanish Guardia Civil to secure the skies above the track and surrounding area.

Established in 2017 as part of the European Commission’s Action Plan to strengthen the protection of public spaces, HRSN connects police units from European Union Member States and associate members from other countries to develop innovative and integrated solutions for the security of public spaces. The network’s working group focusing on uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) and counter-UAS in public spaces is actively developing technical, tactical, and operational guidance for these capabilities.
