European Commission seeks industry research partners for GNSS U-Space applications

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (Small to medium sized enterprises) seeks industry partners to help accelerate the use of EGNOS and Galileo, the European GNSS (EGNSS) components, in the UAS market, “putting in place the necessary means at service provision level for facilitating the operational use of EGNSS by operators and their approval by aviation authorities.”

The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) is Europe’s regional satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) that is used to improve the performance of global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs), such as GPS and Galileo. It has been deployed to provide safety of life navigation services to aviation, maritime and land-based users over most of Europe.

The research is part of the “Horizon 2020: EGNOS and Galileo as a U-space Service” programme.
