Asian academic and industrial interests join Drone Logistics Ecosystem to fast track drone delivery sector

The Malaysian university, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (The Energy University) UNITEN and its commercialisation arm URND, and the Singaporean company AirGo Design have joined the Drone Logistics Ecosystem (DLE). The amalgamation of university-industry collaboration in research, development and commercialisation is expected to encourage innovation and accelerate technology licensing among members. The objective of this partnership is to strategise on joint-technology development, product adaptation/integration, IP licensing, joint promotion and fundraising, and all other aspects in the commercialisation process.

By joining the drone delivery and logistics association, the new members hope to create a fast track commercialisation model for others to follow.

Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (The Energy University), Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr.

Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha said: “This MoU signing represents the cooperation that will benefit the parties involved and our communities through collaborative research and commercialisation that hoped to result in strategic collaboration between UNITEN and both parties. This partnership will foster a dynamic environment for UNITEN in strengthening its international collaborative network, facilitating cross-border knowledge exchange and intellectual properties through applied research.”

The Drone Logistics Ecosystem are a free of charge, global multidisciplinary “quadruple helix” network of Companies, Universities, Public/Government, and Investors to stimulate innovations, collaborations, and standardisations in the drone logistic industry.

The aim of the Drone Logistics Ecosystem is to bring together stakeholders in the drone logistics industry under one roof to support commercialisation and marketing of products of Drone Logistics members. Since the industry at its inception, most of the companies are early-stage start-ups with limited access to funding, manpower and expertise, making us an ideal platform for companies to lend their expertise for joint-development of products, consulting, or simply as sub-contractors, or for any other format of cross-disciplinary/border collaboration.
