Pre-registration of drones opens as part of new legislative measures in Japan

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has mandated registration of drones weighing more than 100 g from 2022 under new legislation aimed at safe operations. The requirement is compulsory from June 2022 and begins this month with pre-registration of drones.

You can apply online or by submitting documents. Enter/complete the information such as the name and address of the owner and the user of the unmanned aircraft, and the manufacturer and model of the aircraft in your application. Applications can be made from December 20, 2021.

Step 2: Payment
Please pay the fee for the application, when you receive your payment number after the application for registration. You can pay by credit card or Internet bank ing, or at an ATM. Please note that application fees and payment methods vary depending on the application method.

Step 3: Issuance of a registration ID
After all procedures are completed, a registration ID will be issued for the unmanned aircraft. Please clearly display the registration ID in such a way that you write it on the airframe before flying.
