The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has established five framework contracts for tactical and deployable counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS), an initiative designed to provide NATO Allies and partner nations with a faster, simpler route to acquire proven capabilities.
The contracts have been awarded to Axon, BSS, DEFSECINTEL, JISR and CS Group France. They focus on flexible, off-the-shelf systems built around a common Command and Control (C2) backbone. This backbone integrates modular sensing and effector subsystems including radar, direction finding, electro-optical/infrared and acoustic sensors; electromagnetic warfare effectors; and the option to integrate hard-kill interceptor capabilities.
Combined under a unified C2 layer, these modules enable operators to detect, identify and respond to drone threats as one coherent system, scalable for fixed-site defence, forward operating bases or mobile applications.
The agency will continue to expand its catalogue to cover larger requirement sets as the threat evolves.
