Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi A.Ş (MKE) of Türkiye has completed live-fire testing with its TOLGA Close-In Air Defence System. The system successfully neutralised all aerial threats across seven different scenarios.
Threats included mini/micro drones, fixed-wing drones, smart munitions and cruise missiles.
The tests were observed by a delegation of approximately 150 representatives from the country’s General Staff, Force Commands, Gendarmerie General Command, Coast Guard Command, Presidency of Defense Industries and the wider defence sector.
TOLGA integrates the GÖKBÖRÜ AESA radar, an acoustic detection system, electro-optical sensors, electronic jamming capabilities, 12.7 mm and 20 mm weapon systems and command-and-control infrastructure into a single system. The system is capable of manual, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous missions.
It detects threats using its radar and sensors and neutralises them via electronic jamming. When necessary, it physically destroys targets using 12.7 mm, 20 mm and 35 mm weapon systems and airburst anti-drone ammunition. The MAP DUAL mobile vehicle platform and MKE’s 7.62 mm fragmentation anti-drone ammunition also provides protection against close-range aerial threats.
MKE said it will further develop TOLGA through the integration of a laser weapon system and the ENFAL-17 missile.
