Hensoldt South Africa has announced that its KENIS thermal sensor, used in its systems for long-range surveillance and counter-drone capabilities, is now open to the market as a standalone product.
The KENIS 1280 AK is part of Hensoldt’s ARGOS and BushBaby systems. The company announced its availability at Africa Aerospace and Defence 2026, along with an order for the sensor from Estonia’s HEVI Optronics.
The sensor combines a 1280 × 1024 cooled MWIR detector and 30× continuous zoom for long-range detection and identification.
Hensoldt also featured its new Automated Spectrum Management System (ASMS) at the exhibition. ASMS is an integrated capability designed to help defence forces and spectrum authorities plan, coordinate, assign and monitor the use of the electromagnetic spectrum more efficiently.
