DroneClash competition attracts counter-UAS drone fight teams

Eight international teams have registered for DroneClash, a Robot Wars of the skies which seeks to provide entertainment and a means of managing the real world problem of nefarious drones in society. Delft University of Technology’s (the Netherlands) Micro Air Vehicle Lab (MAVLab) in cooperation with the Dutch National Police are organizing DroneClash to generate new ideas in order to encourage this process.

“During this competition the teams use their highly sophisticated drone(s) to take down as many other drones as possible,” say the organisers. “Teams need to bring at least two drones per battle, but they can use more if they want to. They also need to avoid a number of anti-drone interventions. The teams will battle on 13 February in a former airbase hangar in the Netherlands. Besides fun and a truck load (filled to the top) of honour, the teams battle for EUR 50,000 prize money.”
