The Danish Ministry of Defence’s Materiel and Procurement Agency (FMI) announced today (21 September) that it has acquired a number of radars from Weibel Scientific A/S as part of the ministry’s counter-drone effort.
The radars will be used for detection, classification and target tracking of threats in the airspace and will, among other things, be used to protect critical military infrastructure. FMI previously acquired a number of the same radars in 2025.
“We are now taking another step in establishing an actual drone shield by purchasing radars from Danish Weibel Scientific. I expect that the radars will contribute to establishing a comprehensive situational picture of drone activity in Denmark,” said Minister of Defense Jeppe Bruus.
The contract with Weibel Scientific also includes an operation and maintenance agreement, and the radars will be continuously updated with new software.
