JARUS appoints Giovanni De Antonio as new chair, commencing March 2021

The Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) Plenary Term has elected Giovanni De Antonio as the new chair commencing March 2021 with a clear majority.

JARUS Vice-Chairs LIU Hao from China and Jeannie Stewart Smith from Canada extended their warm welcome to Giovanni Di Antonio. During the leadership team meeting, Giovanni Di Antonio said it was a great pleasure and honour to work with JARUS colleagues in the new role. Facing the new challenges, such as automation and Urban/Advanced Air Mobility, Giovanni Di Antonio is looking forward to leading JARUS and making progress in the new era of JARUS.

Giovanni Di Antonio is an Airworthiness Certification Expert working at the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC). He joined JARUS in 2013 and he was a member of JARUS WG 3 (Airworthiness) and WG 7 (CONOPS). He was involved in developing Unmanned Aircraft Systems concepts of operations and classification, performance-based design standards, objective requirements for high complex systems including Artificial Intelligence, and risk assessment methodologies, and has also accrued a rich experience working for EASA and ICAO.
