In a Linkedin post Interpol’s Christopher Church reports the agency has just completed the first trials of its Project COURAGEOUS²counter-UAS (CUAS) testing and assessment programme, built specifically with law enforcement and public safety missions in mind.
“The goal is simple but ambitious: help shape a trusted, global standard for how CUAS solutions are tested before they’re deployed in the real world.
Standardized CUAS testing isn’t a “nice to have.” It underpins: safety (understanding real capabilities and limitations before officers are in harm’s way); interoperability: making sure CUAS tools work with existing systems and tactics; procurement confidence (giving decision-makers objective, repeatable evaluation criteria); operational readiness (aligning training, policy, and technology around the same benchmarks).”
Project COURAGEOUS² is a consortium of seven law enforcement agencies, five universities and four private entities. This project is funded by the European Union.
Project leaders are now preparing the next phases of testing and engagement and are requesting other agencies and organizations to join the programme.
