Wing and Walmart began drone delivery services in Greater Orlando, Wing’s first market in Florida, on 29 July.
Wing is now able to deliver to more than 50,000 homes, businesses and apartment buildings surrounding the Walmart Supercenters in Apopka and Clermont. The companies plan further expansion throughout central Florida in the coming weeks. Additional locations are expected to include Ocoee and Haines City as well as broadening the delivery area in Clermont.
Following successful launches in Houston, Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, Wing and Walmart are now looking to reach more service areas including Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami and Philadelphia.
Wing’s drones cruise at 150 to 200 feet and up to 60 mph. Once they reach a property, the drone lowers to about 20 feet and, using a secure tether, lowers the package to the ground.
