The European Association for Unmanned Aviation (UAV DACH) has announced the publication of a practical guide for baseline protection profiles for the Specific category.
Created by the association’s IT Safety & Security Competence Group, led by Marco Müller-ter Jung, IT Baseline Protection Profile for the Operation of UAS Volume 2: UAS Operating Category ‘Specific’ is available free of charge. The baseline protection profiles were developed in close cooperation with Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and are available for free download on the BSI website.
“A failure of the communication infrastructure or manipulated databases can lead to UAS malfunctions and thus jeopardise flight safety,” UAV DACH said. “While Volume 1 of the Basic Protection Profile covered the ‘Open’ operating category, the now available and similarly structured Volume 2 addresses the specific requirements of the ‘Specific’ UAS category and the associated challenges. This includes, for example, the appropriate consideration of IT and cybersecurity in risk assessments and the operations manual.”
The guide fits into the established system of IT baseline protection profiles from BSI.
