Intellition, an emerging drone service company specialising in mountain resort operations, has achieved a critical milestone with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by securing its first waiver for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations.
“This regulatory approval includes the integration of uAvionix’s Casia G ground-based detect-and-avoid (DAA) system, marking a key step in enabling life-saving Drone as a First Responder (DFR) operations in complex terrain,” said a uAvionix press release. “As the first company solely focused on delivering autonomous drone services tailored to mountain resorts, Intellition’s approval is a significant step toward realizing its vision for DFR capabilities servicing remote, challenging environments. The waiver is not only a validation of Intellition’s technical approach but also an early signal of a new market emerging—one where drone automation supports resort safety, logistics, and operational efficiency.”
The FAA waiver was granted in part based on Intellition’s use of the Casia G vision-based low-altitude DAA system by uAvionix. Casia G enables passive detection of non-cooperative aircraft in the surrounding airspace, providing a layer of safety essential for BVLOS operations in areas with high terrain variability and recreational air traffic.
