The French aviation regulator Direction Generale de l’Aviation Civile (DGAC) reports in a Linkedin post that in September this year its signed an agreement with the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) “to strengthen their cooperation in the field of U-space, the automated air traffic management of drones.”
“The first bilateral initiative of its kind in Europe, the Declaration establishes a common reference framework, in line with the regulatory framework set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA),” said the DGAC in the post.
.
The objective of the agreement is to promote a shared approach between the two authorities in terms of certification and supervision of service providers; support the activities of the drone sector; and simplify the reciprocal access of French and Swiss players to future U-space environments.
“This cooperation will ensure a high level of safety, trust and interoperability, for the benefit of the population and all airspace users,” said the DGAC.
