ENAIRE coordinated more than 2000 drone operations this summer

Between June and August, Spanish air navigation services provider ENAIRE coordinated a total of 2,218 drone operations.

In line with previous drone flight statistics, Catalonia again recorded the highest number of operations, reaching 516 throughout the summer. Madrid was second with 451, followed by the Basque Country with 255. These three regions accounted for nearly 55 percent of all activity recorded during the period.

Andalusia recorded 209 drone flight coordinations and the Canary Islands had 167. ENAIRE said these areas are increasingly using drones for infrastructure inspection, audiovisual recordings and environmental monitoring.

Galicia experienced a positive trend during the summer, going from 29 operations in June to 44 in August. The Valencian Community, with 111 transactions over the period, and Castile and León, with 90, recorded strong figures.

June was the busiest summer month nationally, with 809 drone operations managed, while July and August maintained very similar figures, with 707 and 702 operations respectively. “This stability demonstrates the increasing maturity of the drone ecosystem in Spain and the need for advanced tools to ensure safe integration with manned air traffic and assist in operational planning, such as ENAIRE Planea for submitting applications and ENAIRE Drones for flight planning,” the ANSP said.
