A2Z Drone Delivery has commenced a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) food delivery pilot being operated by Grab Indonesia and drone services provider SKYY Network in Bali.
The trial connects Café del Mar Bali with Nuanu Creative City, with customers placing orders through Grab’s app. SKYY Network is operating the flights under a certificate issued by Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The partners describe the project as Indonesia’s first BVLOS food delivery operation.
A2Z is supplying its Longtail Dual delivery drone and autonomous AirDock infrastructure for the deployment. The Longtail Dual features a dual-battery architecture designed to provide redundancy, while the AirDocks autonomously launch, recover and recharge the aircraft between missions.
A2Z says the AirDock network could eventually support applications including emergency response, maritime logistics, ship-to-shore deliveries and inspection, enabling multiple drone services to operate from shared infrastructure.
