Venture capitalist Iron Nation, which supports Israeli start-ups, has announced its investment in Airwayz, an AI-based air traffic controller for drones and air taxis that is designed to enable uncrewed systems to fly safely and efficiently in urban airspace.
The Airwayz system can support multiple drone fleets operating simultaneously within a secure and scalable environment. Using AI, it works to predict the complexities of the lower airspace, enabling real-time control and management of uncrewed systems at scale while prioritising public safety.
Airwayz is working with the Port of Rotterdam on the integration of U-Space and UTM systems and is part of the Israel National Drone Initiative, which aims to develop agile regulations and support ecosystems that enable drones and urban air mobility operations.
Along with the investment, Iron Nation co-founder and managing partner Gil Friedlander becomes an Airwayz board member.
