European Certiflight project to use Galileo data to provide accurate drone positioning

The European Certiflight project has convened its first meeting, bringing together consortium members representing uncrewed traffic management (UTM) providers, U-space service providers, drone operators, researchers and regulatory interests.

The EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) selected drone integration company TopView to lead the Certiflight project.

Certiflight proposes to create a new U-space service based on Galileo OSNMA message authentication, in combination with blockchain permanent and unalterable archival. The solution aims to certify the exact position of drones and aircraft with a critical impact on safety and security, and to unlock smart contracts based on actual flight performance.
