Australian government announces AUD32.6 million grant programme to support emerging aviation technology

The Australian government invites applications for grants to explore the application of new aviation technology as part of its AUD32.6 million Emerging Aviation Technology Partnerships Program. The funding aims to accelerate this important sector, which includes drones, electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft and alternative propulsion systems. Grants will support operational trials of new technology and enabling activities such as research and development, which are key to unlocking the benefits of this rapidly evolving Australian industry.
This may include:

  • how to best adopt and regulate the technology in our unique and varied regional communities
  • supporting the manufacturing of new parts
  • developing and testing new airframes and propulsion systems
  • reimagining how transport and freight services are delivered in our regional and remote communities.

Round 1 is now open for applications until 31 March 2022, with Round 2 expected to be announced in the second half of 2022.
The programme targets companies working with drones, electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, alternative propulsion systems or other emerging aviation technology ready for development.
