Boeing, Skygrid, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology have agreed to work together “to assess the operational and regulatory viability of scaled advanced air mobility operations and automated flight rules in Saudi Arabia” according to Skygrid’s Jia Xu, speaking at Airspace World.
The work focuses on developing integrated airspace rules, procedures and technologies to integrate automated eVTOL and drone operations into current airspace configurations, adding a new class of airspace rule – automated flight rules – alongside IFR and VFR classes.
