Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov, an adviser to the President of Ukraine, has warned that Russia’s satellite network could enable drone control over Ukraine. Russia is accelerating the deployment of the network, known as Rassvet.
“The enemy’s communication on the fronts will improve – everything is clear here,” said Beskrestnov in a Facebook post. “The main threat is that we cannot currently use Starlink for online control of UAVs over Russia. It does not work there. But the Russians will be able to attack our entire country using UAVs with online control through their satellites. I see only one solution – to direct all forces to create electronic warfare against Rassvet. There is still time.”
During a defence leadership reshuffle in July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Beskrestnov, a former adviser to the defence minister, as his non-staff adviser on defence technologies.
