The US Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF 401) has published a 2026 Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Quick Reference Guide to provide a common technical and tactical baseline for military and interagency personnel.
The pocket guide is intended to help planners and tactical operators understand the capabilities of counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) equipment and translate higher-level doctrine into repeatable tactics, techniques and procedures.
The guide includes lessons learned from real-world operations, with JIATF 401 saying the feedback is intended to help developers and operators adapt defensive strategies and training as drone threats evolve.
It covers sensors, command and control, and the interception of Group 1–3 UAS in both deployed and homeland environments. The task force said the guide also establishes common terminology to support coordination between military and interagency teams.
JIATF 401 said the guide is intended to serve operators, policymakers and other personnel involved in the C-UAS mission, providing a shared reference for equipment capabilities, tactics and training.
