Ukraine’s State Special Transport Service has installed more than 1,184 km of drone protection along key logistics routes this year, on assignment from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
In July alone, work in the frontline regions included 215 km of drone protection built, 16.52 km of drone protection restored and almost 112.7 km of roads repaired. Much of the drone protection for roads comprises strong netting, some of which has been donated by fishing organisations. Ukraine says the low-cost material has proved to be instrumental in enabling the transport of essential goods for military and civilian use.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced that it intercepted 5,142 strike drones in July, including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas systems. More than 470 drones were neutralised in one night. In addition, approximately 48,000 tactical drones were also neutralised in July.
The Ministry held talks with the UK Ministry of Defence earlier this week, where air defence was a priority focus topic. The UK has committed to at least GBP 3 billion per year in support of Ukraine’s defences.
