Australian start-up Millibeam has manufactured a handheld counter-drone system built on the company’s RF silicon.
RAKURAI (Japanese for lightning bolt) weighs less than 1kg and is designed to be carried as a routine secondary item to defend against small drones. It is designed to disrupt the control, navigation and data links hostile platforms rely on before the threat is overhead. The system has a jamming range of more than 1km, combines ISM, GNSS and Wi-Fi coverage in one unit and can be used for up to two hours of continuous operation with all bands active.
The system is currently in testing and a programmable signal layer is being developed for partner-created waveforms, operating modes and software-layer IP.
