MARSS signs GBP 370 million contract for Kuwait counter-drone defence

MARSS, an EOS company, has signed a GBP 370 million contract to deliver a nationwide counter-drone defence system for Kuwait, integrating air and coastal maritime surveillance with hard-kill and soft-kill capabilities.

The system will be built around NiDAR, MARSS’ AI-enabled command and control (C2) platform. As prime contractor and systems integrator, the company will deploy radar, electro-optical and sonar sensors across a network of sites, feeding data to central command centres for threat assessment and response.

NiDAR will fuse sensor data to provide coverage against airborne and coastal seaborne drones. The contract also includes the initial supply of interceptors and electronic jammers, allowing operators to select different responses depending on the threat.

MARSS said the deal builds on NiDAR systems already deployed in the Gulf region and extends the capability to nationwide scale. Delivery is expected to take place over 24 months, followed by a multi-year integrated logistics support programme. The contract also includes several months of operator training.

The project is expected to create around 100 jobs in the UK across MARSS and its supply chain, including engineering and manufacturing roles. Some production is proposed for Bristol, while a team will also be deployed to Kuwait to support implementation.

The contract forms part of the UK Government’s Taskforce Sabre, which brings together government and industry to help Gulf states secure defence systems. MARSS said the programme will combine British engineering with local deployment and training.
