Israel’s Insignito reports the Israel Innovation Authority has awarded the company a USD1.5 million grant to develop its DUMBO acoustic drone detection, classification, and tracking system.
As part of the Innovation Authority’s SEED program, we are embarking on a two-year development journey to bring DUMBO to a new level of technological maturity, said the company in a Linkedin post. “This support will enable us to accelerate product development, tackle increasingly complex operational challenges, and continue advancing DUMBO toward a solution designed to help protect strategic sites and critical infrastructure.”
DUMBO features advanced multi-microphone arrays and proprietary acoustic software. It detects combustion drones at ranges beyond 5 km and electric drones at over 1 km, said the company’s website. “Our engine classifies the specific drone type, reduces false alarms, and provides accurate angle estimation—even in dense urban environments….At its core, Dumbo is a 30×30 cm module that serves as a flexible foundation for multiple use cases. In the field, it can be carried by combatants for portable protection. Along borders, multiple modules can be networked to achieve accurate localization through triangulation. Mounted on vehicles, Dumbo integrates filtering algorithms to cancel engine noise and provide reliable detection on the move. This modular approach makes Dumbo adaptable to a wide range of defense and security scenarios.”
