Multiple Ukrainian press reports say a British-Ukrainian company Firebolt Engineering Griffen jet-powered interceptor drone has shot down a Russian Shahed (Geran-2) kamikaze drone for the first time.
According to Militarnyi “Firebolt Engineering confirmed the achievement, saying it marks the first verified instance in Ukraine of a Shahed-type drone being destroyed by a jet-powered interceptor drone…..Newer versions of these unmanned systems fly at more than twice the speed of earlier versions, which had a maximum speed of approximately 180–200 km/h.”
Griffen is reported to be a jet-powered fixed-wing unmanned aircraft capable of speeds exceeding 350 km/h, operating at altitudes above 7,500 m, and covering distances of up to 120 km. It is launched using a dedicated catapult launcher.
