EOS Defense Systems USA has unveiled plans for a next-generation version of its Slinger counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) remote weapon system, with US production scheduled to begin at the company’s Huntsville, Alabama facility in 2027.
The upgraded Slinger is in the final stages of development and will introduce enhanced sensing and autonomous kill-chain capabilities. EOS said selectable autonomy will allow the system to respond to drone threats at a faster decision cycle, while retaining the current Slinger’s stabilised capability to engage targets while on the move.
The system is designed to defeat drones and ground threats from a single weapon station without requiring reconfiguration. EOS said the Huntsville production facility will also shorten supply chains, reduce lead times and lower costs for US and allied customers.
The announcement follows an interview at Land Forces 2026 in which EOS Defence Systems Australia Executive Vice President Lee Kormany discussed the development of the Slinger for counter-drone applications, alongside the company’s EOS Interceptor and its involvement with the Leidos team on LAND 156.
EOS said further details on the next-generation Slinger and its US production plans will be released in the coming months.
