Australia’s DroneShield has opened a new research and development (R&D) facility in Adelaide, expanding its Australian engineering footprint for counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) and electronic warfare (EW) technologies.
The facility includes dedicated software development and dry laboratory space for work on embedded systems, sensing, communications, software and EW capabilities. It complements DroneShield’s existing R&D operations in Sydney.
The Adelaide hub was officially opened on 23 September by South Australian Minister for Defence and Space Industries Chris Picton. The company said the site will support development across sensing, EW, software and counter-UAS technologies.
DroneShield said the expansion will also support its efforts to recruit engineering talent in Adelaide, an established Australian defence and technology centre.
The new facility forms part of the company’s broader investment in Australian research and engineering, with work supporting technologies for domestic and international customers.
