The Danish government’s Finance Committee has agreed with the government’s recommendation to purchase a new drones and anti-drone capabilities. The total costs will be covered within the Ministry of Defence’s existing financial framework.
According to a government statement “In light of the heightened security situation, there is a need to further strengthen Denmark’s deterrence and defense profile by urgently acquiring additional drone and anti-drone systems. The government has therefore received the approval of the Danish Parliament’s Finance Committee (FIU) to purchase a number of capacities.”
“The experience from the front line in Ukraine clearly shows how big a role drones and the ability to combat them play on the battlefield. There is therefore a need for the Danish Armed Forces to quickly strengthen this part further. Development is happening extremely quickly, and it is crucial for the combat power that the Danish Armed Forces keep up,” said Minister of Defence Jeppe Bruus.
“The war in Ukraine has shown us how important a factor drone and anti-drone capabilities in interaction with conventional means are in building a technologically flexible and tactically adaptable defense. The initiative supports the Armed Forces’ targeted work to massively upgrade relevant technology,” said Deputy Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Henrik Berg.
