CENTCOM shoots down UAS over Red Sea

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it shot down two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) over the Red Sea yesterday.

Between approximately 03:49 and 10:00 local time on April 3, USS Gravely and CENTCOM forces successfully engaged and destroyed one inbound anti-ship ballistic missile and two UAS.

CENTCOM says the missile and UAS were launched by Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists from Yemen towards USS Gravely which is currently sailing in the Red Sea.

There were no injuries or damage reported by U.S., coalition, or commercial ships.

Additionally, during the same timeframe CENTCOM forces destroyed a mobile surface-to-air missile system in Houthi controlled territory.

It was determined that all systems presented a threat to U.S. and coalition forces and merchant vessels in the region.
